VibeWise: How to Set It Up in Claude Code
AI coding tools make it easier than ever to build websites and applications. But generating code doesn't always mean understanding how it works.
VibeWise is an open-source plugin for Claude Code designed to help you learn while building. It encourages you to understand technical decisions, explore different approaches, and improve your coding skills through hands-on development.
Step 1: Install VibeWise
Open Claude Code and run:
/plugin install vibe-wise@anthropic-plugin-directoryFollow the installation prompts.
If this doesn't work, try the GitHub marketplace method:
/plugin marketplace add nykooi1/vibe-wise
/plugin install vibe-wise@vibe-wiseFor the latest instructions, visit the VibeWise GitHub repository.
Step 2: Enable Learning Mode
After installation, run:
/vibe-wise:learnFollow the setup questions to customize your learning preferences, or choose Use defaults to get started quickly.
Learning mode helps you understand your project's requirements, technical choices, and implementation process.
Step 3: Start Building
Now, give Claude Code a project to work on. For example:
Build me a personal portfolio website.
With VibeWise, you can work through the project step by step, explore technology choices, review designs, and understand the code being generated.
This approach helps you build real projects while developing your technical knowledge.
Useful VibeWise Commands
Start or resume learning mode
/vibe-wise:learnReset your learning setup
/vibe-wise:resetYou can also customize your workflow with instructions such as “Use fewer checkpoints,” “Ask multiple-choice questions,” or “Pause learning.”

.gitignoreif you don't want those notes tracked in Git.Check Claude Code's plugin interface for available updates.
Final Thoughts
VibeWise offers a learning-focused approach to AI-assisted coding. Instead of simply generating code, it encourages you to understand how your applications work and why particular decisions are made.
If you're using Claude Code to build projects, VibeWise is worth exploring as a way to combine AI-powered development with continuous learning.
